January 17, 2012

Good afternoon everyone,

Just wanted to send out a few Educational Technology tips & tricks for the week.  I’ll try to pop these into the Monday Memo in the future but wanted to share what I’m learning as I meet with more of you.

1.       Quite a few teachers are using Pandora in their classrooms, great for having music going in the background during class.  Pandora radio is the personalized internet radio service that helps you find new music based on your old and current favorites: http://www.pandora.com

2.       David Matlock keeps a blank graph paper PDF on his teacher page – so he can easily open it up on the Smartboard and get graphing – cool stuff!  You’ll find it listed under All Classes here: http://teachers.northwestschool.org/nws/dmatlock/index.php?section=documents

3.       Check out our newly organized and accessible AV Closet!   You’ll find iPods, Kindles, Wacom tablets, laser pointers, laptops, projectors, digital and web cameras and much more.  I’ve attached a labeled image of the closet to give you a better idea of what we have available - thanks Adrienne for creating the image!  You can check out items the same way you borrow books from the library (most everything has a barcode now).

Let me know if this is or isn’t helpful – I don’t want to overwhelm you with info – I just thought this might be easier to digest than a big report at the end of a few months.

Happy Tuesday!

-Catherine
